LUMION FINAL: LIGHT RAIL



CONCEPT: "FRACTURED ARCHITECTURE AND REVEALED STRUCTURE CREATE A POETIC DESTRUCTION"
THE ONE UNIT BLOCKS OF COLOUR (RED, BLUE AND YELLOW) CREATE A FRAGMENTED DESIGN THAT IS ARRANGED TO CAPTURE THE VIEWERS ATTENTION, WHILST CREATING A VISUALLY APPEALING STRUCTURE THAT STIMULATES THE VIEWERS SENSORS.

THE COLOURS DO NOT ONLY ATTRACT PEOPLE, BUT IS USED TO GIVE THE SPACE DIMENSIONS AND LIGHT. FOR EXAMPLE UNDERNEATH THE ELEVATED ROOM IS A SHADED AREA WITH YELLOW WALLS. AS THIS AREA IS COVERED AND NOT DESIGNED IN A WAY TO LET LIGHT IN, THE YELLOW COLOUR IS DESIGNED TO ADD LIGHT TO THAT SPACE. THIS DESIGN RELATES TO LUIS BARRGAN'S USE OF COLOUR. 

THE BRIGHT PRIMARY COLOURS IN THIS MODEL, NOT ONLY REFER TO LUIS BARRGAN'S WORK BUT ALSO REFLATE TO PETER EISENMANN'S STYLE OF WORK THROUGH FRAGMENTATION. AS THE BRIGHT, PRIMARY COLOURS LOOSELY SEPARATE THE STRUCTURE INTO THREE MAIN SECTIONS -THE ROOF, THE CURVED ARCHES AND THE STAIRS -THAT CREATES A FRAGMENTATED DESIGN. THE THREE MAIN SECTIONS ARE LOOSELY CONNECTED TO ONE ANOTHER BY THIN CONCRETE COLUMNS, BUT THE NOTION OF FRAGMENTATION IS PRESENT AND CREATES "POETIC DESTRUCTION".
